Parcel 6
I-195 DISTRICT - PROVIDENCE, RI
Parcel 6 was created by the relocation of Interstate 195 which cut through the core of downtown Providence. Upon removal of the highway, the development site encompassing about 1.5 Acres situated prominently on the East Side of the City was ripe for an imaginative new use.
The development executed by D+P included 62 units of elegantly designed apartments including approximately 50% of the units at below market rates to provide much needed housing for the city's workforce. The development plan is anchored by Providence's first Trader Joe's grocery store which occupies a free standing 15,000 SF store. A total of three buildings are integrated across the site by a shared parking deck and garage that houses 162 parking spaces and serves the grocery store as well as the other residential and retail uses. |
